The council offers a self-regulatory framework to ensure ethical and trustworthy use of cyber technology, and it introduced professional standards and charterships in areas such as security architecture and risk audit to define excellence in the field.

"These standards have to be of the highest quality and make sure that when we are issuing and making and using standards, there's ethics and integrity in it so that people can have trust in how we use cyber and can see how we're using cyber to protect our country," Natanson said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Natanson discussed:

  • The importance of setting and adhering to high-quality standards in cybersecurity;
  • The council's role in demystifying cybersecurity and creating clear pathways for new entrants, emphasizing the profession's diversity beyond technical roles;
  • Challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies such as AI and cloud computing.

Natanson has served as board chair, steering committee member and program chair for the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams and is a registered European Commission security expert.
