How ISACA Is Guiding Enterprises to Cybersecurity Maturity

ISACA Board Director Rob Clyde on Great Resignation, Layoffs, Skills Gap
Rob Clyde, ISACA board director, NACD board fellow

The threat landscape continues to deteriorate, and criminals are using new techniques and pulling off devastating attacks. Meanwhile, security leaders are struggling to fill a critical shortage of skilled talent. Rob Clyde shares how ISACA is helping defenders keep up and gain cyber maturity.

Security leaders need to look for new ways to recruit and retain talent - and look for ways to leverage next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence to close the gaps before it's too late, warned Clyde, ISACA board director and a National Association of Corporate Directors board fellow.

At the same time, no one is quite sure how to use AI to support cybersecurity professionals in their careers. "It's an interesting dynamic of pros and cons that, frankly, I don't think any of us feel like we have a handle on," he said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2023, Clyde also discusses:

  • The impact of the "great resignation" and recent layoffs on the cybersecurity talent shortage;
  • How ISACA has adjusted its training and certification programs to adapt to the current conditions;
  • Where organizations of all sizes are struggling on the path to cybersecurity maturity.

Clyde is a member of the board of directors and served as 2018-2019 chairman of the ISACA board. He currently serves as governance and nominating committee chairman. He is a leader in data protection, categorization and classification and works as managing director of Clyde Consulting LLC, which provides board and executive advisory services to cybersecurity software companies. He serves as an executive adviser to BullGuard, a consumer and small business security software company.
